Protecting and Expanding LGBTQ+ Rights

Over the course of the Trump administration, we’ve seen the federal government and state governments repeatedly marginalize and attack the rights of our LGBTQ community – explicitly and implicitly empowering discrimination in the workplace, hospitals, schools, in the military, and elsewhere.

We need a proactive LGBTQ+ agenda that not only seizes the rights and protections lost during the Trump Administration but specifically advances the fight for transgender, Latino, African American, and Muslim Americans who are too often left out or marginalized in the fight for full LGBTQ+ equality.

We need to send a loud and clear message that regardless of who you love or how you identify, government will protect your civil rights, including access to quality healthcare, access to education, and the ability to thrive in the workplace free from discrimination. We need further legislation and legal enforcement to make that a reality. That’s why I support:

  • Reversing Trump’s regulatory assault against LGBTQ+ individuals

  • Passing the Equality Act to formally outlaw discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation

  • A nationwide ban on conversion therapy
